one year!!

so our one year anniversary was on sunday and i wanted to post something, but we just hung out and our BIG trip is going to be this weekend...so i just want to say how much i love my husband and love being with him all the time...he is just so cute!!

Ben's birthday and Halloween...

Well, ben turned 24 this week. i decided that i would make him a cake. i saw this really cool website that makes these cupcake cakes. it is actually make originally for kids, so as to not have to cut the cake. everyone just pulls off a piece. he loved it!!!

well if you don't know, ben loves football..so a few weeks ago, we went to oroville and ben and his friends and brothers played. it was fun to watch..

Tshirts for Prop 8

i need to take this time to annouce to everyone that ben and i are voting yes on prop 8 in california. this is stating that marriage is between a man and a woman. thousands of people back in 2000 voted yes on prop 22, which was the same thing. yet 4 supreme court judges think that they can just override that decision. the last time i checked we were a democracy, right?? how are they just going to change the opinion of the people when we voted on it! that is just stupid!!! so i am here to promote this again. as the general authorities just had a broadcast and were talking about this, well it seemed pretty serious! so i went to protectmarriage.com and i found that they sell tshirts....now ben and i don't have all the time in the world and the GA's asked everyone to give 4 hours a week. well we decided that wearing these shirts would help donate that time! so go and get your shirts today!!

the circus???

yes, the circus came to town and ben and i went on a date!! it was great!!! there wasn't a whole lot of stuff, but it was fun to attend. we saw a few people there. mia and the kids and colleen and eric and their kids. here are some pics...

these are the ponies and horse. they were cute. didn't do anything spectacular but it was fun to watch.

this was awesome and scary all at the same time. there was this large ball and there were 3 guys on motorcycles. then the 10 year old boy went in and i swear they almost hit eachother. it was crazy, thats for sure. at one point they got 5 people in there.

this is ben and i having the time of our lives at the circus. you know the last time i went, i was like 8 and kerri laufer took me and my sisters. that was a long time ago. so now we have new memories to take us through the next 17 years!

Tender Mercies...

i just have to tell you all how much i love my husband! this picture is from when we went to marine world on our 1 month anniversary of dating in may 1 year ago. He is the sweetest thing there is! the other night he had just got home from his 3rd day of school and he was TIRED!! the poor guy had worked from midnight to 6am, came home and slept for 1 hr then got up and got ready for school from 9am to 3pm. so that night, we were finished with dinner and decided that we were going to watch a movie. well i put in the wedding planner with JLO and matthew mcconahey....spelling..? anywho, it was so cute. we were actualy enjoying and then ben turns to me and says "Katie, you are one of the most beautiful people i have ever met". and i am like what?? and he says no really, i think you are so beautiful. i love you! and i just melted. i, of course, started crying and he got a little teary eyed. BEN I LOVE YOU!! you are the greatest and you mean the world to me! and i feel like Heavenly Father has really made ben a tender mercy in my life!

Jog in the park, slumber party, and camping!

this last few weeks were just great!! it started out by going on walk with my husband ben! i love him. one night we decided that we would check out billie park. it was very nice!! we went on a little trail they had there and there was a "grotto". it was a small area on a trail and at the end was a little water fall. it was nice.












of course, ben and i were just the two of us, and so we couldn't take a picture of us both. so just one by one.

it was a fun date! we don't seem to do those much any more.
the next adventure we had was babysitting our nieces and nephew for the night. we had ally, 11, mady, 8, rylie, 5, and brayden, 1 1/2. it was fun but tiring. the girls were great and so was brayden for the evening and then when the night came, he did NOT want to sleep well. between ben and i, we were up with him until 5am. and 7am came around and that is when rylie wanted to watch hairspray. so i had to get up and watch hairspray. but it was fun. later that morning, we went back to billie park and had some fun.















trust me they were so cute to be around.... and they loved uncle ben!!

then camping at ft bragg...it was fun. me and ben and his family. i got completely sun burnt! but it was worth it.

we had fun, the beach was beautiful and we enjoyed hanging out. the best part was to come home and sleep in our own beds and not the floor.

here we go 'round the blueberry bush..

well this is my benji!! i love you!! this wonderful house that we are living in right now had some blueberries and peaches growing in the back yard, so we decided that to pick them and make some cobbler. we made two blueberry cobblers and 2 peach cobblers. family and friends loved them. it was so fun just to hang out and learn about food.

the summer is coming to an end and it is just so sad to me. i love the summer and i have only had time to go swimming once this summer. how sad is that??? tomorrow is a day off for me and i am so excited. if you don't know, i don't get anydays to sleep in ever. m-th, i work 8-5 at the drs office, then mondays i work at night at the salon. then fridays i get off the the drs office at noon and then do hair fridays until 6 or 7 and then saturdays i do hair from like 10 -4. then sundays we have church at 10 and choir at 9. so i don't get to sleep in ever, unless i actually mark off a day. and that is exactly what i did for tomorrow. so i am excited. i get to sleep in and do nothing all day. we are going swimming and then ben has to work at 4pm. so i get some time with myself. my nieces and nephew are in town from michigan too so we are going to have a fun 3 weeks.

8 Month Update....

here is the newest update. we are married today for 8 months!!! i can't believe that it has been that long already. but i am so happy and i love ben so much. i feel that we have both grown so much and have compromised a lot for each other in order to live together and still love eachother. it is the greatest decision that i have ever made. anywho...so going back to the fair.

ben and i went to the silver dollar fair with a good friend, jennifer that i used to work with at Chico Vision Care. it was so much fun. we got all the good fair food that we are definately paying for now and ben even got to shake the monkeys hand!!

then two weeks later, bens brother aaron got home from his mission and it was so much fun to see bens whole family together. this was the 1st time all 7 kids were together in 4 years. it was definately special..

then the fire started. we had a large fire start and burned all the ay up skyway and neal rd. that was put out and not even a week later, we had a massive lightning storm that started over 800 fires in the north state. here is a pic of our view driving down skyway...

anywho....other than that, the firefighters are still fighting the fires and we are so thankful for their work. no update as of now for weight watchers. i have lost .2 lbs. i have not done too much. i have kind of given up on "watching what i weigh". i have just started exercising every day. i have started taking a jazz class every tuesday. it is 90 min and i love to be dancing again. still working, and i got a new ring. i finally got the wedding band that i have been waiting for. it looks beautiful. anywho, ben is getting his classes done to start chico state in the fall and we are excited to get things rolling for him to be making money. otherwise, hope to talk to you all soon...

WEIGHT WATCHERS ANYONE....???

OK...so since ben and i have been dating...last april, we both have gained a significant amount of weight just from being lazy. so we have decided to go on weight watchers. ben isn't too excited about it, but he is excited to slim down again and get eating healthy. so i am going to the meeting tonight. we are going to be doing the point system, and i talked to ben's aunt nancy about doing a blog about it. so i will update it weekly about how we are doing and what tricks we are using. others feel free to leave comments or even post something about it because i check this thing frequently as well as all my friends on my page. so for all those who will join in ....good luck...

we're ok!

it has been a long time since i have written i know, i am terrible at this thing...but we have had some huge fires in this area lately. ben and i are ok, we didn't get evacuated. the house is ok. i took some pictures and will post them as soon as i can. otherwise, aaron got home(ben's brother) and it was so nice to have some family time this weekend. we were there thurs -sat. thursday we had to spend the night due to all roads being closed from the fires. luckily we enjoyed all the time we had even though it was a long tiring weekend. sunday, we had my dad and his wife and my sister up for fathers day. we bbqed steaks and it was fun. the power was out but we had fun.

Shout out the the MTC..ROOT ROOT!!

i am a little behind...but i just want to shout out to the MTC. on May 19th it was our 4 year anniversary of entering in the MTC and i miss it. it was a great time in my life. these were the wonderful women i went in with and they are just great. now that we are all married and some with children, we never have time for eachother. i miss you both and love you.....KHS forever!

ok so i know that i never post things, but this is the latest adventure that i have taken. i flew out to utah for mollys BYU graduation. then we drove back. it was the longest short trip i have ever taken. i had not been in utah for almost a year and we really didn't do much. but it was nice to have some time off. and i know this was about a month ago. that is how much i am on top of things. anywho...we are going to the fair this weekend and with my friend Jen from my old job. so it will be fun. i will take some pictures and post again.

Hooker Oak Park to enjoy the weather...

We all decided to go to the park for a BBQ. it was so much fun. as you all know i now have saturdays off and so ben and i decided that we were going to invite ian and amanda for a day of fun. they brought their little baby..Nyomee, i don't know how to spell it but i spelt it phonetically....the way you sound it out. anywho...we BBQed steaks and kabobs, had jello salad and potato salad with BBQed zuccini. it was so much fun to hang out. the best part was holding their little girl..she is just the most adorable thing. i can't wait to have 10! JK!

Our House..

Coming in from the front door, this is the look of our living room and dining room. we are currenly house sitting for a family friend from church while they serve a mission. we love the home. it is a little large to swallow at first. but we are growing with it. litterally. we have both gained about 15 lbs. since we have been married but we are working on it. anywho..so i just wanted to bragg a little to all those young married couples that are living in apartments. ha ha just kidding..

this is bens wonderful tv. this was a christmas purchase for us. ben has been wanting a big screen tv for sometime and so we got a really good deal on a panasonic 50" plasma tv. i must say, i wasn't very happy about it at first, but since we have cancelled our cable and all i do is watch movies now, i really appriciate it more.

this is a project that i started when i was snowed in for 2 days this winter....and now it is going to wait until i am pregnant so i am not working and have more time... :)

LIFE UPDATE>>>>>

ben is currently trying to get into chico state so that he can start on his credential ..(spelling) program and then hopefully only 2 years left. at least that is what we are praying on. i on the other hand, got some help at work finally. we hired someone and she is great. i actually got to be done with work at 530 tonight. but i stil had 2 haircuts to do. by the end of the day it is hard to work out. i am tired. who knows, hopefully it will get better when it gets warmer.

i better go i am going to bed...good night to all...enjoy this..except those who have removed us, don't bother.. ")

OOOOK! i know it has been a really long time since i have written, but i really have been busy. i am not too good at this right now...give me a little more time and i will become better. i love my new job. well..it has its days. i love the girls i work with. they are great. we get a long really well. we had to get rid of one though. the girl that was there when i started. it just didn't work out for one reason or another, so she found another job and we are currently hiring. hopefully soon, we will find someone, like to start monday! i will be coming to utah soon. my sister molly is finally graduating from BYU and i will be attending the graduation. i wish that i could come for conference. i would love to see everyone from the mission. but no money. next time. we are rapping up the semester as well. but ben will be in summer school. so there goes our summer. maybe we can go somewhere. our workout and diet started yesterday. so far so good. we are getting there. trying to workout everyday and eat right. it makes long days but it is a good tired. that is about all now....
